Under the project LIFE TAXUS, last September 12, was organized a action for seed collection in the Serra da Estrela, which was attended by members of the Floresta Comum and Grupo Tribo da Estrela.
The LIVE TAXUS project was presented in the course of the 1st Meeting of Nature Conservation and Forestry, an initiative organized by ICNF - Institute for Nature Conservation and Forestry, which took place on October 9 in Setubal.

The project TAXUS – Restoring yew thickets [9580 * Mediterranean Taxus baccata woods], which is co-financed by the European Union, aims at the preservation and increase the area occupied by this habitat in Portugal.
Under the action C.1, and during the second half of 2013 were collected 12.45 kg of fruit from species such as yew (Taxus baccata), the rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), holly (Ilex aquifolium) and plymouth pear (Pyrus cordata), species that coexist in habitat 9580 * Mediterranean forests of Taxus baccata.
